Feeling Positive

Just a little update on Hailey. She is doing fantastic, she has come on amazingly with her speech and is so much more social. She speaks to everyone, although her speech is not as clear as most almost three year olds, it is a lot easier to understand her and she is getting less frustrated. She has started playing out the front with Masie and Taylor with the neighbour kids, although she comes back every few minutes to say Hi she is out there and mixing with other kids. She picked up this thing, when you call her name she would answer "huh", we hate this it sounds awful, so the past two weeks we have been teaching her to answer 'Yes' or 'Yes Mummy"(or who ever is calling her). Yesterday she finally got it and it was so cute, some times she forgets herself and it comes out "hu,yes".

She has developed this strange rash all over her body that we are trying to figure out, it appeared about a week or so towards the end of our trip and slowly just kept spreading. We took her to the doctor and they werent certain but though it was ringworm, so we were treating her and three days later the rash was in her armpits and going down her back. I called the doctor and she wanted to see her again, but obviously doesn't have any appointments so we are sent to the urgent clinic. The doctor there looks confused and in the end says he thinks it was Pityriasis Rosea , I was not 100% this was what it is but he was the doctor. After a long visit he give her a four day steroid treatment, it seemed to be helping at first and took all the redness out of the rash but it was still very much there. So now after a few days from finishing the steroids the redness is coming back. So we are going to try and get another appointment and maybe get to see a dermatologist if they have no answers. Ill let you know what happens.

Anyway, Hailey's speech teachers came today and were so impressed with her that they thought it might be a good idea to invite her back to class, I will be staying with her and she will just get used to being in a class room setting and some of the kids will be in her class at her new school. We have been talking a lot about school and she sounds excited. I'm feeling positive that this will be OK this time, she has come a long way in the last few months and I think she is going to do great.

  1. Yay!!! Go Hailey!! I'm learning that sometimes kids have a roadblock blocking them from whatever and suddenly something (anything) provides clarity for them and they learn like crazy. Sounds like Hailey found her clarity! I love it!! Nothing is more encouraging than watching young children learn!

PS: Hope that rash clears up...Javien has one too only I know what it is from. Be glad Hailey is not a boy and you have to recommend cream...ok no more info you get it.
